What is nutritional coaching?
Lifestyle, stress, medical history and what we consume effect all systems in our bodies: immunity, organ function, physical performance, energy levels, weight, emotional balance and mental clarity. Nutritional coaching is a purposeful exploration of nourishment, its effect on the body, and how we can best use nutrition to gain and maintain a healthful functioning body.
Nutritional coaching involves more than advice on what you should or should not eat or recommendations for supplements. It offers an integrated approach utilizing a combination of techniques to manage your health and wellness—tailored to your lifestyle and specific needs.
Will I need to give up my favorite foods?
You do not need to necessarily give up your favorite foods, and you may find that you enjoy trying out new types of eating choices. Food is your best medicine. Nutritional coaching will help you identify which foods are best for your metabolism and body type. You will also learn how to develop good flavors for cooking at home.
Overall, I feel pretty good, so why would I need nutrition coaching?
The absence of symptoms does not mean you are healthy. When you body is not functioning optimally, it can lead to disease and health conditions such as chronic fatigue • irritable bowel syndrome • ulcerative colitis • migraine headaches • insomnia • autoimmune diseases • allergies and asthma • adrenal fatigue • thyroid dysfunction • and unexplained symptoms. Knowing what foods help you health versus harm your health is a powerful tool in your health arsenal.
I am diabetic, can better nutrition help me?
Absolutely, a diabetic can be helped with better nutrition. Learning how to control blood sugar fluctuations is the key to improving body functions, and possibly reducing the dependency on drugs. Holistic methods of recommendation often include dietary modifications, rest and relaxation techniques, exercise and movement, stress reduction and supplementation. Reduce your dependency on drugs and learn the skill in self-care!
How do I know what supplements may be right for me and my health goals?
First, analyze why you want to take a supplement. Knowing that it will not be a magic bullet for your health issues, it is important to determine what you want to achieve...weight loss, muscle growth, increased energy, etc. Answering these questions for yourself will jumpstart a conversation with your nutrition coach and guide you to the right supplements for your goals.
In supplements, what is whole-food based nutrition?
Whole-food supplements are made of blends of concentrated, dehydrated whole foods, sometimes with added vitamins and minerals. Advocates say that because the nutrients are combined as they are in natural foods, the body can use and absorb them better.
Fruits and vegetables contain a powerful array of antioxidants that provide protection for our bodies. For example:
Beta-carotene is found in many fruits and vegetables that are orange in color, including carrots. Some green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale are also rich in beta-carotene.
Lutein, best known for its association with healthy eyes, is abundant in green, leafy vegetables such as spinach, and kale.
Lycopene is a potent antioxidant found in abundance in tomatoes.
Vitamin C is found in many fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges, pineapple, acerola cherries, papaya, carrots, parsley, kale, broccoli, cabbage, spinach and tomatoes
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach and broccoli
For decades, I have included Juice Plus+ supplements in my personal diet regimen. Introduced in 1993, Juice Plus+ is not a substitute for eating fruits and vegetables. It is not a medicine, treatment, or multivitamin. Juice Plus+ can help support a healthy diet by offering a much wider variety of naturally occurring vitamins – along with other antioxidants and phytonutrients found in fruits and vegetables – than traditional vitamin supplements.
I offer Juice Plus+ nutritional products through AcuSpa because I believe in these products and they have been an important part of my approach to personal health and wellness for years. Learn more about the entire line of Juice Plus+ nutritional products.
