Acupuncture for Insomnia -
AcuSpa Serves the Greater Orlando Area
Most people experience sleepless nights from time to time, but when insomnia is ongoing it can indicate deeper problems and can lead to other health concerns. Chronic insomnia prevents the body from getting the rest and renewal it needs to function optimally. When quality sleep is lacking, problems such as difficulty concentrating, fatigue, depression, a weakened immune system and trouble performing everyday tasks can arise.
Acupuncture can help. According to Oriental Medical theory, insomnia is a sign of an imbalance in Qi (chee) which is the vital energy that animates the body and protects it from illness. This imbalance can be the result of stress, anxiety, medications, chronic pain, digestion, and lifestyle choices.
A thorough health exam is needed to determine which pattern of insomnia is affecting your sleep (In Oriental Medicine, there are a number of patterns which could be implicated.) Here are some questions that your acupuncturist may ask to help in the diagnostic process.
-
Do you have difficulty falling asleep?
-
Do you have difficulty staying asleep?
-
Do you have vivid dreams? Is it difficult to calm your mind at night?
-
When do you fall asleep and when do you wake up?
Your acupuncturist will take into account all relevant factors, and will work to restore the balance and flow of Qi to improve your sleep at night.
Acupuncture for insomnia is used to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with insomnia. Acupuncture helps us achieve balance and control, comfort and focus, and joy in living. We have a lot of potential in our bodies but at times it can be misguided. The needles are very slender. They are about the thickness of two human hairs. Treatments are always carried out with sterile and disposable needles. They are used once and then discarded. All needles are approved by the FDA. Most insertions are just beneath the skin`s surface which enables the skilled acupuncture practitioner to place a needle with little or no sensation. We have great success in helping clients apply acupuncture to help with their insomnia.
