Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia -

AcuSpa Serves the Greater Orlando Area

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized by chronic, widespread pain, along with a number of symptoms which commonly occur together. A patient with fibromyalgia may exhibit any of the following symptoms.

  • Chronic pain

  • Fatigue

  • Sleep Disturbance

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Joint stiffness

  • Chronic headaches and jaw pain

  • Hypersensitivity to odors, bright lights, and loud noises

  • Inability to concentrate

  • Incontinence

  • Irritable bowel syndrome

  • Numbness or tingling in the fingers and feet

  • Painful menstrual cramps

In some but not all cases, symptoms of fibromyalgia begin after a physical or emotional trauma. Women are at a greater risk of developing the disorder than are men.

Because the manifestations of Fibromyalgia Syndrome are so varied, Oriental Medicine aims to treat each patient’s unique symptoms. In June of 2007, the Mayo Clinic reported that acupuncture was helpful in treating the fatigue and anxiety commonly experienced by fibromyalgia patients. David Martin, M.D., Ph. D., author of the report and a doctor at the Mayo Clinic, says, “The results of the study convince me there is something more than the placebo effect to acupuncture.”

If you are suffering from Fibromyalgia Syndrome, maybe it’s time to try acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Your Acupuncture Physician will perform a thorough initial examination in order to discover which of the body’s systems are out of balance. With this information, she will come up with a unique treatment plan to address the your main complaints.

Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia is used to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with Fibromyalgia. Acupuncture helps us achieve balance and control, comfort and focus, and joy in living. We have a lot of potential in our bodies but at times it can be misguided. The needles are very slender. They are about the thickness of two human hairs. Treatments are always carried out with sterile and disposable needles. They are used once and then discarded. All needles are approved by the FDA. Most insertions are just beneath the skin`s surface which enables the skilled acupuncture practitioner to place a needle with little or no sensation. We have great success in helping clients apply acupuncture to help with their Fibromyalgia.
