Acupuncture for Arthritis Pain - AcuSpa Serves the Greater Orlando Area

Arthritis is a debilitating and painful disease, and with one out of every three Americans being affected by arthritis pain at some point in their lives, Arthritis in the knee, spine, wrists, hips, and shoulders can have a terrible effect on an individual’s quality of life. While there are over 100 different types of this disease that can affect people at any stage in life, two types are most common:

Rheumatoid Arthritis RA Rheumatoid Arthritis is by far the most serious, painful, and potentially crippling form of arthritis. It is a chronic systemic disease characterized by flare-ups and remissions. It mostly affects the joints, but it can also be felt in the lungs, blood, heart, and various other parts of the body by affecting supporting connective tissues throughout the body. Rheumatoid arthritis RA is caused by an inflammation of the joint lining. This lining, called synovia can swell and cause redness, pain, swelling, warmth, and stiffness. Other symptoms might include fever, weakness, fatigue, and deformity.

Osteoarthritis OA Osteoarthritis is the most common type and is caused by the breaking down of joint cartilage. This breakdown results in pain in stiffness, typically in the knees, fingers, hips, wrists, spine, shoulders, and elbows. In fact, OA occurs in almost all vertebrates. The only two mammals it does not occur in are bats and sloths which both spend much of their lives hanging upside down!

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a long track record of helping people suffering all types of arthritis symptoms. The Chinese medical term for all rheumatic diseases, including all types of arthritis, is bi zheng. This means “impediment condition” – a blockage or obstruction that results in pain. It is a problem with the free flow of qi and blood. To restore that free flow again, one must first diagnose the reason of it. Individuals suffering from arthritis in the knee, back, hips, and various other places throughout the body have seen tremendous results with acupuncture treatment. TCM also utilizes a special massage technique – Tuina in treatment for arthritis and harmony back to the body. Combined with Chinese herbal medicine, these massage techniques can make an extremely effective treatment for arthritis. Those suffering from painful arthritis symptoms can quickly see the benefit of Chinese medicine treatments.

Acupuncture for arthritis pain is used to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with arthritis pain. Acupuncture helps us achieve balance and control, comfort and focus, and joy in living. We have a lot of potential in our bodies but at times it can be misguided. The needles are very slender. They are about the thickness of two human hairs. Treatments are always carried out with sterile and disposable needles. They are used once and then discarded. All needles are approved by the FDA. Most insertions are just beneath the skin`s surface which enables the skilled acupuncture practitioner to place a needle with little or no sensation. We have great success in helping clients apply acupuncture to help with their arthritis pain.
